Photopress 0.9.7 (WP 2.1+ only)
This version uses a new method to place buttons, this time stolen from the Anarchy Media Player Plugin. It’d be nice if the plugin API had an easy way to insert buttons - I guess maybe in 2.2 or 3.0…
Due to all the new files and folders, I suggest deleting your old Photopress folder (back it up first!), then installing the new files. Remember to keep your template and style files if you’ve edited them.
I’ve removed watermarking for now in order to clean up the code and interface a bit. I’m working on a plugin infrastructure so we can have features like watermarking without cluttering up the core plugin so much.
Some browser-specific notes:
Firefox 1.5-ish: The browser I use most often, so everything works properly for me there.
IE7: Seems to work fine. I have a half-broken laptop with XP for testing now so IE support should be better.
Opera: Inserting images in ‘Visual’ is broken in Opera. Inserting on the ‘Code’ side of the editor works though, so I guess that’s a workaround. Or you can use PP’s tags feature - that works on both sides.

I have just install WP2.1 (fresh installation) as well as PP0.97.
It is picking not my $user_level… In pop_up as well as main management page.
My $user_level returns NULL. Therefore, I get “Ask the administrator to promote you.” in pop and no mass edit, upload in management pages.
Any idea why ?? Please, pop in and let me know.
I’ll do a search on my side to find out why.
Thanks Isaac for making PP !!!

Sorry for posting again…
Strangely, I had to refresh my profil by ticking “set admin role” despite the fact I was already the admin.
Works great now !!! Nice

Hi Issac,
Thanks so much for the update– Now that I’ve got photopress running again, I’m off to look for a video player.

Thank you! Yes, 0.9.7 is working almost perfectly with WP 2.1, i.e. aside from two minor problems I mentioned previously:
1. The thumbnails are arranged haphazardly in all galleries (I don’t know what to change in the style sheet to have them appear neatly as before, i.e. two thumbnails per row.
2. In certain cases, the same “Posts with this image†link appears several times under the photograph.

Updated my site with new WP. Went to put up your new version of PP. In my opinion PP 9.2 is still the best version to date….too bad when you goto download v9.2 you get 9.6 same with the older versions.
These whacked out catagories make me want to pull my hair out. Anyway sorry to sound upset i’m not. I really love this tool you made. Take care.

The plugin installs fine, but after activating it, the ‘Write’ page does not display any buttons in Firefox. I checked it in IE 7 and it gives me a “realTinyMCE is undefined” error. Any ideas?

I am using this plug in at website http://www.mdcrei.com, however, it seems to interfere with widgets. I have to disable it to edit information found in a widget.
Would love to not have to do this.
Thanks..

Let me point out that one of the two problems I pointed out earlier, ‘In certain cases, the same “Posts with this image†link appears several times under the photograph.’ was due to the fact that I was using the “Search Everything” plugin. As soon as I deactivated it, the problem disappeared.

Maybe I’m an idiot for not knowing this, but how can I delete catagories? For some reason photopress has generated two of the same catagory.

Thanks for updating the plugin for WP 2.1. This is hands down my favorite plugin.

Hello there. I have used PhotoPress for my daughters dragon website. It works pertectly. I am not a PHP programmer and I wonder if you could help me with a question. My daughter wants to display “This months best dragon” in a seperate place on the frontpage of Wordpress. Can I use your solution, in some way, to do this ? It could be a nice little function to add to your very nice solution.
Please….. Please….. Please…..

I just installed .9.7 on WP2.1 and it works great except for one thing, the categories can’t be managed, In Manage:Categories nothing shows up and if I call the Diplay Main function, nothing their either. I do notice that the pp_manage_cat is not being passed in the link, but that seems to bring up an old deleted image in a deleted category. Not sure where that one is coming from. Any ideas where to look?

Photopress .0.9.7 for WordPress 2.1 breaks the WordPress editor as well as the WordPress widget plugin on WordPress 2.1. I am using FF 2.0.0.1. When I disable Photopress everything words fine. I’m wondering if I should revert to Photopress .0.9.5?

Hi,
i’ve a problem with the new version too.
The watermark functionality are moved. There are no settings under administration-options-prepress
Regarding to the concept of photopress, i’ve another questions:
1. i dont understand the configuration and handling of categories.
Example:
It works to upload a new photo with a new category.
It doesnt work to upload a new photo in an existing category. The photo will saved under the default-category.
It doesnt work to redefine a photo to another category via “mass edit”.
A function to delete a category is missing.
2. I dont want to link the photos to the gallery from the category-folder. In my opinion its better to switch to the article / blog archive. From the article / blog archive it make sense to link the photos to the gallery. Have anybody an idea how to change the php-files…?
My website is: http://www.nordhessen-online.com
Thanks a lot,
Denis

OH SO CLOSE! I’m really excited to have found this plug in. I have 1 big (yet small) suggestion… ok, it’s a request.
I usually include 8-20 photos per post, so I would love to have the option to upload a full directory (then go to a manage page for description, blah, blah). Having 1 album per post would be killer!!! I’m not a coder at all, so I’m not sure how complicated that would be. Thanks so much!

I have this problem:
Could not find wp-config.php.
Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required ” (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/***/public_html/***/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/photopress/buttons.php on line 10
Any help?
