Nothing too exciting in this version, but if you’re using index.php-based permalinks you’ll want it.
New features and fixes:
- index.php-based permalinks should work now. Thanks to SHRIKEE for spotting and testing this fix.
- Added a mass resize function. Thanks to Roge for the idea and code.
- Added an image rotate function.

What I’m doing next: I think I’ll add category slug and hide image fields to the DB table, plus the bits for working with them. This should lay the groundwork for eventually storing a category’s images in a category-slug-named subfolder of the photos folder. With a lot of images it gets crazy storing them all in the same folder.

It would be great if an image could be in multiple categories…
It is nice to read about the further evolution of Photopress. I also have a suggestion. Presently, when we click a standard (450px) image in the Photo Album, it opens the same image in a new window. Is it possible to make such an arrangement that a larger image opens if we have chosen to save the original (larger) image as well?
Thanks.
I am developing a second wordpress blog on my site, and for some reason I can’t get permalinks to work.
I’ve install your plugin, and run the impor. It creates thumbnails, but does not create a link to the album or a random image on the home page. Is there code I can put in there to do that myself?
Thanks
I can do a swedish translation during the holidays, if you can explain how. is it just to translate the strings in the pot-file and send it to you?
Forget my comment above. I dug around in the code and found the functions you were calling and inserted them into my template. Works great!
If anyone is interested, here are the two functions:
‘ . __(‘Scrapbook…’,'photopress’) . ”; ?>
The first inserts thelink to the photo album, the second inserts a random image.
whoops– looks my code got gobbled up. Maybe Isaac can post the functions.
i love this plugin!
maybe i’m missing something, but how do i add the ability to comment on each individual photo? what photopress file should i modify and where? perhaps this is a question for the people at word press, but what code would i insert in order for this to happen?
right now, photos that are part of a post can be commented on. all of the other images that are in my photo album that aren’t part of a post cannot be commented on.
keep up the good work! this plugin is so much easier to use compared to integrating gallery2 and the wp-gallery2 plugin into my site. thanks!
I love photopress, its very easy to use and its so useful. I’ve recently switched to wordpress and I’ve installed the plugin almost problem free. Thank you for this great tool.
Anyway, I have a small question regarding the photo album. Can you give me a step by step tutorial on how to make a photo album? Cause I keep getting this problem:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: pp_album() in /home/pinkmis/public_html/rad/photos/index.php on line 3
Thank you!
This plugin doesn’t work (without permalinks) on WordPress 2.0, just reporting.
I’d love to see the categories applied to this.
I am trying PhotoPress in a website. I like this plugin very much. But the the problems are :
1. I have already installed Iimage Browser Plugin earlier, and when I installed WordPress, the QuickTag Button of Iimage Browser stops working.
2. I am also using “customizable-post-listings.php” Plugin. When I use a thumbnail code with the help of WordPress in Excerpt, it does not show in the page. While Iimage thumb works well.
Will you please give solutions for these two hurdles. Because I want to continue with WordPress.
Thanks in advance.
i was able to get photopress 0.8.4 working in wordpress 2.0. the photo album on my site seems to be functioning just fine right now.
however, after i upgraded wordpress, i uploaded the photopress plugin to my site and activated it. i turned off the rich text editing feature in wordpress (because i seem to remember reading that photopress doesn’t work with rte enabled). everything was working fine until i turned on the permalink option under the photopress options. i got an error in line 1463 of photopress.php that killed my site. after that happened, i couldn’t get into my admin page to deactivate the plugin. i had to manually delete photopress out of the plugin folder.
i think the problem i was having originated with the activation of permalinks under photopress. after repeated attempts of uploading and reactivating the plugin and receiving the same error, i had to downgrade to a lower version of photopress (i think it was 0.5.1). i finally got photopress working after activating the old plugin and resaving the photopress options. it wasn’t until i downgraded that i was able to put 0.8.4 back on my site and actually have it work. strange.
Oh I really liked PHOTOPRESS..! But, sorry to say that it does not work if I put the post expert in my “sidebar”.. is there any solution? Please..
Correction “expert”… read as ” Excerpt..”..
I’ve now tried to remove photopress completely. alle the files, images and from the db. and then I installed it again, but get this error when trying to access the photopress link in “manage” and “options” :
——————-
Warning: main(ABSPATHwp-content/plugins/photopress/include.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /customers/catonett.com/catonett.com/httpd.www/blog/wp-admin/photopress.php on line 33
Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required ‘ABSPATHwp-content/plugins/photopress/include.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php’) in /customers/catonett.com/catonett.com/httpd.www/blog/wp-admin/photopress.php on line 33
—————-
And this is what the address in the address bar is: http://www.catonett.com/blog/wp-admin/photopress.php
I have no photopress.php file in that directory. only in the plugin one.
What can be wrong?
Hei
Hey, i’ve removed Photopress completely, and installed it again. I have also removed the tables in sql. When I activates it again, I get this error when trying to access in “manage” og “options” menu:

Hi Isaac,
I am happy to see you working at such a pace on new features/bug fixing. It’s rare these days to see somebody so devoted to his/her plugin development.
I would like to support Taimur in his request for a new feature. It would be great to:
a) Either, add one more image size (e.g.: thumb > middle > large);
b) Or, make use of the original image…
… so that when a thumbnail is clicked, it brings up the post (album page) with a 450px image, and when that image is clicked, a larger version (option a. above) or the original image (option b. above) pops up in a new window.
Hi,
Is there a possibility to just upload a large amount of pictures to the photos dir and add the pics from there to the albums? Currentrly i’m uploading 10 pics at the same time through the filebrowser. But because still have 670 pics to go… Is there an other way?
Great plugin!
always happy to hear there will be a new release with new features. and thank you for your reply to my earliar question about commenting on individual images. i know where is a gentleman above me with the same question, and i know its on your to-do list. thank you. ^_^
i would be very pleased for sub-categories. all your photos (or in my case, artwork) could be loaded into say portfolio, and then sub-categories based on each medium, or even subject matter. that would be lovely!
